Vattenfall sells Belgian concerns to ENI for $200 million

Stockholm-based Vattenfall, the largest utility in the Nordic region, has completed the sale of its utilities and other operations in Belgium. Nuon Belgium and Nuon Power Generation Walloon were sold to Italian multinational oil and gas company ENI for 157 million euros ($200 million).

Nuon Belgium holds a renewable energy capacity of 4.5 megawatts through its subsidiary Nuon Wind Belgium. It was put up in August 2002, serves around 550,000 electricity and gas connection points, and employs approximately 150 people.

Nuon Power Generation Walloon, on the other hand, comprises a combined-cycle gas turbine power project in Seneffe.

The transaction was initially agreed upon last July 2011. Vattenfall seeks to sell businesses worth more than 3 billion euros. – Jhoanna Frances S. Valdez
